kids.discovery.com I choose this site because when I was observing in a second grade classroom a second grade science teacher taught class on this website. She also told me that she uses worksheets and gets other activities from this website. I knew it was a quality site because Discovery Kids has a very good reputation not only in schools, but outside of them as well. They have a magazine that my sister gets every month. It is easier to navigate than other sites because it has a lot of directions that go step by step and it is very simple. I would suggest teachers use this site to show children in the classroom and have them participate. To get into some games and worksheets you do have to have passwords and it could get confusing with a bunch of elementary children in a computer lab. On this website as a teacher, you could print out worksheets, quizzes, puzzles, and activities for the children to do in the classroom. The objective to this site is to let kids discover things on their own and put things together. It is very colorful, entertaining, interactive, musical, and self-correcting. www.schoolhouserock.tv I choose this site because as a kid I would learn things better in a song. When trying to memorize something my mom and I always tried to make up a song. Schoolhouse Rock has all different kinds of videos that describe different topics in song. I know that it is a quality website because Schoolhouse Rock has been used for many educational purposes in all different kinds of schools. It is user friendly because you just click on a topic you want to watch and it gives you the lyrics and the video of it on youtube. If you brought students into a computer lab and told them what videos to pull up and listen to they could learn and listen about all different kinds of topics. It would help with the teacher lesson plans because there are so many topics that after teaching history or English. You could bring your kids to this website and they not only learn it again, but in a different way. The objective of this site is to teach kids in a different way than in a classroom to teach them a topic or subject by a song. The videos are very colorful, interactive, entertaining, and musical.
